2 Men Stabbed, 1 Fatally, near Strathern Street

The incident happens around 12:10 a.m. Saturday as police are breaking up a nearby house party.

Two men were stabbed near the corner of Irvine Avenue and Strathern Street early Saturday morning and one of the victims died, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident happened around 12:10 a.m. near the Sun Valley/North Hollywood border in the LAPD Foothill Division's patrol area. No suspect has been described or identified and police have offered few details about the homicide.

The victim who died was a male Hispanic in his late teens or early 20s who suffered a stab wound to his torso and died after being transported to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, according to Officer Rosario Herrera of the LAPD Media Relations Section. A second victim, a male Hispanic also described as late teens/early 20s, suffered a stab wound to the face but was treated at the scene. Herrera said the attack was not believed to be gang related.

Sgt. Thomas Gahry of the Foothill Division said the homicide occurred as police were breaking up a nearby house party, but that the stabbing did not occur at the party and it is unknown if the victims had been at the party.
