Adam Carolla on Occupy Movement: 'Self-Entitled Monsters'

The North Hollywood High alum and comedian drops a verbal bomb on the Occupy protesters around the country.

Comedian Adam Carolla grew up in a modest home in North Hollywood and worked in construction as a young man before climbing his way up the comedy ladder to the top. He's now one of the reviled "1 percent" that the Occupy L.A. and Occupy Wall Street protest movements have aimed much of their venom at.

Carolla, it is safe to say, is not a fan of the movement and sees it as the end result of the "everybody gets a medal" millennial generation and the soft parenting strategies that started to be implemented 20 to 25 years ago.

"They’re feeling shame," he says. "They’ve been shamed by life because they haven’t been prepared for life."

Most celebrities who have spoken about the movement have come out in favor it. Kanye West, Bill Maher, Russell Simmons and Michael Moore have all supported the movement. But not Carolla, whose rant has been embraced by many conservatives. As the L.A. Times pointed out, during the taping of Glen Beck's radio show Thursday, the host had written on the blackboard behind him: "I'm sure he will hate this but: Adam Carolla is my hero! Forget George Washington."

Carolla riffed on the protest movement in an interview with the Media Research Center on Oct. 11 that has been getting mainstream media attention lately from sites like Slate, Forbes and the L.A. Times. Whether they agree with the rant or disagree with it, it seems everyone wants to listen to it.

"We are now dealing with the first wave of 'participation-trophy, my-own-fecal-matter-doesn't-stink, empowered, I-feel-so-f***ing-good-about-myself, everybody's-a-winner, there's-no-losers,' we are dealing with the first wave of those f***ing a**holes. That's who we are dealing with now," Carolla said, later adding that the millenial generation is a bunch of "self-entitled monsters."

There is more, a whole lot more.

Carolla has the No. 1 downloaded podcast on iTunes. Watch the attached video of his rant or listen to it here. (Warning: As is common with unfiltered Carolla rants, and , there is some colorful language used.)
