Learn to Blow Like a Pro This Friday at Tamara Dahill Salon (It's For a Good Cause)

This Friday, visitors to in Toluca Lake can learn the best tips on how to achieve a salon style blow out at home.

Knowing that salon clients struggle to keep their hair maintained at home after a salon visit, owner Tamara Dahill came up with her “Blow Like A Pro” event to share techniques and teach clients how to achieve a perfect blow out at home.   Clients are encouraged to bring their own styling tools including blow dryers, brushes and products and the salon staff will evaluate each guest’s styling regime and recommend a revised and individually tailored blow out guide for each person. Additionally, proceeds from the event will go to the Say No to Drugs Holiday Classic. Dahill frequently hosts events that benefit local charities. See:

 “Clients say all the time, 'my hair doesn't look like that when I do it at home,'" said Dahill.  “I want to show them how to achieve a great look that is easily created at home. Plus the workshop is fun and provides an opportunity to donate to a good cause.''

Dahill said she opened her salon in 1994 to create a positive and fun working space.

"Some salons resemble soap operas including lots of gossip and drama. I really didn't want to work in that type of environment," she said.   

She is a graduate from the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London and was selected to train with Sassoon’s top stylists in Germany before moving to Beverly Hills to work as a stylist. After working for a few years on the Westside, Dahill heard about an opening in Toluca Lake and began working here as a stylist. 

"I immediately loved the community feel of the neighborhood," she said.

Decorated with warm, buttery yellow walls, wrought iron chandeliers and wooden chairs and mirrors, her salon has a mellow French bistro vibe.

Dahill is committed to giving back to the beauty industry. She specializes in color and travels globally teaching classes to students in addition to mentoring stylists at her own salon. 

"I didn't have the funds to attend traditional beauty school and after getting to know Tamara and witnessing her talent and dedication to the industry, I jumped at the chance to have her as a mentor," said Amy McNamara, a 26-year-old salon employee. "She inspires me daily to work hard and follow my dream of becoming a successful stylist and business owner."

The Blow Like A Pro event takes place Friday, June 29 at A Tamara Dahill Salon, 10216 Riverside Drive. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the class begins at 6:30 pm.  A suggested donation of $20 will go to the Say No To Drugs Holiday Classic. Reservations can be made at 818/970-6345.
