City Council to Declare Today 'My Three Sons' Day

The honor is in connection with the launch of its reruns on the Me-TV digital television channel this month.

The City Council will declare today "My Three Sons Day" in Los Angeles, honoring the 1960-72 comedy in connection with the launch of its reruns on the Me-TV digital television channel this month.

Stanley Livingston, who played Chip Douglas, his brother Barry, who played Ernie Douglas, Tim Considine, who played Mike Douglas on the show's first five seasons, and Tina Cole, who played Katie Miller Douglas, will  join Councilman Tom LaBonge at a ceremony at City Hall.

My Three Sons premiered on ABC on Sept. 29, 1960, and starred Fred MacMurray as widowed consulting aviation engineer Steve Douglas raising three sons (Considine, Don Grady and Stanley Livingston) with the assistance of his father-in-law, Bub (William Frawley), in the fictional Midwestern city of Bryant Park.

Frawley was written out of the series midway through the 1964-65 season and replaced by William Demarest as Uncle Charley

My Three Sons moved to CBS in 1965 and Considine left the series. To keep the format, Barry Livingston joined the cast, portraying an orphan adopted by Steve Douglas.

The Douglas family moved to North Hollywood at the start of the 1967-68 season, remaining there for the rest of the series' run.

There were 380 episodes produced of My Three Sons, the second most among live-action family comedies, behind only "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet."
