The LAPD's North Hollywood Division continued Monday, as several thousand toys were delivered to children and families in some of the North Hollywood's underprivileged areas.

Last week, the train of LAPD cars made stops at six local schools and the Four Seasons elder care facility and delivered toys and gifts. The giveaway continued Monday as 16 LAPD vehicles travelled the streets and neighborhoods handing out toys and putting smiles on many children's faces.

"The quality of the toys was like nothing I'd ever seen before. The community was exceptionally generous, often donating toys that easily cost twenty, thirty, or more dollars each," said LAPD Sgt. Jeff Hollis of the North Hollywood Division in an email. "We literally had thousands of these kinds of expensive toys. The caravan made a total of eight stops (the highest number ever, due to the sheer volume of toys), each in an underprivileged neighborhood in North Hollywood Division. 

"At each stop, the caravan of 16 vehicles activated their sirens, and called neighborhood children out to get toys. In one case ... more than a hundred fathers, mothers, and children stormed toward the police cars in a single surge. It was absolutely awesome. Santa and Mrs Claus were present, (as was Captain Whittingham) and posed for photos with the kids. All told, 2,196 toys were given away in a period of two and a half hours."
