Gazala Pirzada, Project Manager of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) in North Hollywood, updated the Mid-town North Hollywood Neighborhood Council on Wednesday about current North Hollywood projects not affected by the State of California's Supreme Court stay, concerning the law seeking to dissolve redevelopment agency operation throughout the state (Bills ABX1 26, which calls for the elimination of redevelopment agencies and create successor agencies; and ABX1 27, where redevelopment agencies that make payments to the state are exempt from elimination).

Pirzada informed the attendees that these two recent bills have passed in California and are directly affecting the CRA's functions.

Pirzada also gave updates on the NoHo Senior Arts Colony, the Valley Plaza, the Laemmle Theatre and other projects. Pirzada also clarified information that was previously reported in a Patch article about the facade improvement program happening in the CRA's Laurel Canyon Commercial Corridor project area, stating that facade improvements were not actually underway at Valley Plaza itself as part of the project, as was reported, but in other parts of the corridor nearby, specifically the east side of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and on some locations on Victory Boulevard.

Gazala Pirzada does mention the Laemmle Theater. She said they are pleased with that project and it should open in time for the holidays.
