What's Up: New Exhibit at Senior Arts Colony, Live Jazz at Bob's Espresso and More

1: The NoHo Senior Arts Colony will unveil its latest art exhibit during a special event from 6-8 p.m. The gallery will feature works by local artist Samantha C. M. Wendall. Her paintings are described as "capturing the intimate moment of concentration from her subjects, whether it be at the height of competition, or the height of an artistic performance, she portrays both the agony and the ecstasy of a moment." There will be live music. 10747 Magnolia Boulevard.

2: NoHo resident and pianist Randy Emata will be performing in the back lounge of the Federal Bar. He specializes in playing the smoother groovier side of jazz/R&B/pop along with Michael Reason on drums and William Matthew Taylor on bass. Show is free and starts at 8 p.m. 5303 Lankershim Blvd.

3: Jazz group the Silver Lake Trio will play their free weekly show starting at 8 p.m. at Bob's Espresso Bar. 5251 Lankershim Blvd.

4: The annual Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios has begun (http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/hollywood/2013/), but if you’re looking for something a little more tame for the kids, the Toluca Lake Pumpkin Festival is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through Oct. 31, complete with a pumpkin Patch and petting zoo at 10601 Riverside Drive, Toluca Lake.

5: Today will be mostly sunny with a high of 79, according to the National Weather service.
