Former L.A. City Councilman Richard Alarcon:…

Help Beautify NoHo Park!

David Keesey July 09, 2014 at 05:53 PM
I had an idea on re-creating the sad rose garden into a beautiful Rose Memorial Garden for our fallen police, police dogs and fireman from the North Hollywood and surrounding areas. Each year on Memorial Day the city would honor them along with including roses with the names of those that had fallen during the year. Have a garden store sponsor it, such as Lowe's or Home Depot. Also, fixing up the small building on Magnolia that was used for food and snacks years ago. Offering local restaurants a lease to sell their foods with a portion of proceeds to fix up the park. The park could offer sponsorships to local businesses for putting in fountains, statues, adding trees, removing parts of the grassy areas to put in more drought tolerant plant gardens. Keep the area to the north of Magnolia for activities of soccer, football, etc. I would also like to see the cement waterway that runs along the park as a pictorial mural of the old and new North Hollywood. Bringing in local artists to paint these murals with help from our residents and students. I love this park and hope Mayor Garcetti along with Councilman Krekorian will bring this idea front and center. I hope we have others with visions as well to beautify this majestic park!
