UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Playboy Playmate of the Year Raquel Pomplun was joined by a slew of celebrities and other notables to honor single mothers at the Single Mom Planet Celebration of Parenthood at Infusion Lounge at Universal Studios City Walk last week.
“I’m very excited to be here and honor single moms and the hard work they do every day,” Pomplun said of the Oct. 28 event.
Although she doesn’t have children, Pomplun, as a volunteer and celebrity spokesperson, has joined with Single Mom Planet in its efforts to reach out to single mothers and provide services such as job training, housing assistance, career advice, parenting classes and other assistance.

“Being an aunt to four nieces and nephews as helped me to understand how important it is for families to come together and celebrate, encourage and empower each other. So when Neferteri Shepherd, who founded Single Mom Planet asked me to host the event I was elated.”
The fund-raising event aimed to raise awareness of the needs and issues facing single mothers and their children. Single Mom Planet is a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization established by Shepherd, a former Playboy Playmate and model who created it to help single mothers live a dynamic and rewarding life through education, special events and more.

Pomplun made history this year as Playboy’s first Mexican-American Playmate of the Year to grace the cover of the 60-year-old publication. The 25- year-old brunette was raised in Tijuana, Mexico, and studied biochemistry at Southwestern University in Chula Vista, Calif. before winning the title in May. Pomplun has kept busy this year, working as a TV host, radio host, actress and model, including roles in the films “Snake and Mongoose” and the upcoming “Last Vegas.”
Among those attending were actors Haley Hudson (“Weeds”), Helenna Santos Levy (“American Reunion”), Leah Cevoli (“Deadwood”), Jason Grasl (“The Umpire”), Erin Muir (“Not Another B Movie”), Shanaya Fastje (“M.D. Squared”), Leo Oliva (“The Shift”), Satu Runa (“Queen Gorya”), TV host James Ganiere (“Back from the Dead”), and many others.
The Playboy Playmates attending included Stacy Fuson, Kara Monaco, Serria Tawan, Angel Boris Reed, Val Kiel, Anna Sophia Berglund, Kia Drayton, Carrie Stevens and Ava Fabien.
