Bike Coalition Plans Another Group Ride Through NoHo

The Los Angeles County Bike Coalition is organizing another group ride through North Hollywood to promote support of having the city put bike lanes on Lankershim Boulevard through the NoHo Arts District.

The 4.3-mile ride is at 11 a.m. on Oct. 27 and will start from Metropolis Bikes at 4660 Lankershim Blvd.

From there, riders will head up to Chandler Boulevard, make a right, cycle to Pass Avenue and hang a right, make another right on Magnolia, ride back down to Lankershim to make one final right for a straight shot up to Metro's Red Line Station.

The Coalition's previous group ride was last December and it drew in about 100 people, said Alek Bartrosouf, the organization's campaign and policy manager.

The local council district office is putting together a third and final working group with constituents about whether to have bike lanes along Lankershim before drafting a final plan.

In June, the Mid-Town NoHo Neighborhood Council voted that they'd rather see bike lanes on the less-frequented Vineland Avenue.

Some local businesses will be offering discounts to those who join the group ride, but list of final participants has yet to be finalized, Bartrosouf said.

He added that everyone who plans on coming should bring their own helmet.
