Bike Coalition Rides Again in NoHo

The Southland cycling advocacy group rides in support of having bike lanes along Lankershim Boulevard.

The LA County Bike Coalition once again took to Lankershim Boulevard and other neighboring streets Sunday in numbers to promote cycling and bicycle lanes in the community.

The group and its supporters want bike lanes placed through NoHo on Lankershim, though the Mid-Town NoHo Neighborhood Council voted in June to have them on Vineland Avenue instead.

Advocates believe bike lanes would help NoHo become more of a destination, while opponents don't want to lose a lane of traffic to have them installed.

The final decision rests with city hall, though its unclear when that's going to happen. LA City Councilman Paul Krekorian's office is working on setting up another working group between stakeholders and city officials to gather feedback on the issue.
