Ms. Wheelchair California Fundraiser in NoHo on Monday

A fundraiser is being held Monday at the Federal Bar for the Miss Wheelchair California pageant, an event geared toward inspiring and empowering women living with disabilities.

"As an advocate for the disability, it is my duty to constantly provide my community with a positive example and to continually educate society on the needs of those with different needs, essentially ensuring that Civil Rights will be provided to all, regardless of their ability or inability," said event organizer Jennifer Kumiyama.

The event's goal is to raise funds specifically to send current title-holder, Ms. Wheelchair California 2013 – Margarita Elizondo, to Houston, Texas to compete for the Ms. Wheelchair America crown and to prepare financially for the next Ms. Wheelchair California Pageant in January 2014.

The event is being held on Federal Bar's second floor, known as Sterling's Upstairs, on Monday. Dinner seating is from 7-7:30 p.m. and showtime is from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Reservations are required. General admission tickets are $28 and VIP seating tickets are $38. VIP ticket cost goes toward $10 worth of food and beverage.

The Federal Bar is located at 5303 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood.

Upscale attire is required.
