Studio City’s Only Pet Rescue Store Needs Your Help
Lucky Puppy Rescue and Retail uses profits to rescue dogs, but needs help covering vet bills.
Lucky Puppy Rescue and Retail, a non profit aimed to prevent dogs in overcrowded shelters from being euthanized will be hosting a fundraiser Feb. 23. The store has found homes for more than 300 dogs since its opened its doors in December of 2012. So far, they’ve managed to raise $12,480 of their $40,000 goal.
The store is an extension of the Poopie Foundation. Melissa Bacelar and her husband Jeff Spinner began the foundation after moving to California in 2003 and learning that every state-run shelter in California euthanized adoptable animals when at capacity. Foster homes and money donations are both welcome for the store. They plan to build a no-kill animal shelter with cage-free play areas within the next few years.
The store is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It’s located at 12238 Unit B. Ventura Blvd.
