Tiara Street Park's Playground Now Open

The park is only open on weekdays for the time being.

The playground for a new North Hollywood park quietly had a soft opening about two weeks ago and an after school program is expected to launch there in the near future.

Tiara Street Park, located where Tiara and Lankershim Boulevard meet, is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until a budget is allocated for weekend staffing, said Charles Singer, superintendent of recreation operations with the city's parks department.

A small room at the park will house an after school program for kids up till age 12 that's similar a program offered at the North Hollywood Recreation Center.

"Staff has been actively recruiting children and some children that live closer to Tiara Street," said Singer.

For information about the after school program and to register, call the North Hollywood Recreation Center at 818-763-7651.

A ribbon cutting event for the park's grand opening is expected to be held on Oct. 31, Singer said.
