What's Going on at Phil's Diner?

There's some shuffling taking place, but it's not signs of what you think it might mean.

It was a promising sign.

The doors of Phil's Diner, which shuttered in 2011 and has since been an eyesore in the gradually blossoming NoHo, were flung open Monday and a couple of guys inside were moving furniture around.

Could it be? Has someone new stepped into the role of owner?

Even the handful of pedestrians that passed me by as I checked out the place and snapped some pictures asked with hopeful optimism.

Well, it looks the crew was just tidying things up for filming an episode of Bravo's The Millionaire Matchmaker on Tuesday.

So is there any hope for the eatery to reopen someday?

Patch did an update on Phil's Diner in 2012 on the one-year anniversary of its closure, so it's probably time to check in with the owner at the time of that article, JH Snyder Company, to see if there's any news. We'll have an update for you soon.

Phil's is believed to be California's oldest dining car and prior to remodeling was moved from the construction path of the Metro Red Line to the NoHo Commons.
