Munchkin to be Honored for 93rd Birthday

A special event is being held for Jerry Maren of 'Wizard of Oz' fame in Hollywood on Tuesday.

Jerry Maren, who portrayed the middle member of the Lollipop Guild in The Wizard of Oz who presents Dorothy with an oversize lollipop to welcome her to Oz, will be honored today in Hollywood by Councilman Tom LaBonge to mark his 93rd birthday.

Maren was born in Boston on Jan. 24, 1920. His other credits include the 1939 Marx Brothers film At the Circus, the original 1968 version of Planet of the Apes, and the 1997 episode of the classic NBC comedy Seinfeld that popularized the phrase, "Yada, yada, yada."
