NoHo LitCrawl a Big Success, Says Publishing Mag

An estimated 2,000 people attend the debut installment of the event.

The first occasion in which fans of the written word gathered to hear hundreds of their favorite authors read aloud in the NoHo Arts District was labeled a big success by Publishers Weekly.

The debut NoHo LitCrawl saw places like hair salon/barbershop The Local and Bob's Espresso Bar turn into a soap box for authors and about 2,000 of their fans.

Event co-founder Rosalind Helfand said she was happy with the turnout, but that next year she'd like to convince city officials to let the LitCrawl take place on a weekend.

"The literary fairies spread a lot of pixie dust on us to make it a success,” she said. “Our publicity campaign and our mailing lists were really effective. People here have been craving something like this for a long time, something truly inclusive of the fullness of our literary community.”
