Music legend Smokey Robinson is best known for being one of Motown's greatest, but this weekend he'll be sharing his literary talents with North Hollywood audiences.
In his one-man show, Words, playing at the El Portal Theatre Friday and Saturday, Robinson will read six long-form and autobiographical poems, the Los Angeles Times reports.
"He’s been writing poetry for as long as he can remember,” Brian French, Robinson's producer, told Pop & Hiss. “It’s been a passion of his for a very long time. It’s just that most of his poetry has been used for his music."
