The Best of the Bad: 'The Room' Comes to NoHo

Held as one of the worst movies ever made, the cult classic is now being screened monthly at the Laemmle NoHo 7.

Hung among posters for new movies outside the Laemmle NoHo 7 is a sign for an obscure title from 2003.

Unofficially regarded as the "best worst movie" of all time, The Room has an immense cult following and is now being screened monthly at the local theater.

Director Tommy Wiseau bills the film as a dark romantic comedy, though the laughs actually come from a poor script and awkwardly delivered lines.

The Room also stars Wiseau who plays Johnny, a San Francisco banker that apparently no longer interests his girlfriend Lisa (Juliette Danielle).

Lisa then begins to seduce Johnny's friend Mark (Greg Sestero). It sounds like a typical torrid affair, but it ends up entangled with plot lines that go nowhere and supremely bad acting.

Screenings take place at theaters around the country and are typically attended by fans who recite lines as the movie plays and, uh, throw spoons at the screen. Check out the accompanying YouTube clip for an example.

The next late night screening at the Laemmle NoHo 7 is on Dec. 22. Check on the theater's website or phone in for exact showtimes.
