Toluca Lake Siblings Climb Music Charts With Debut Outing

Echosmith's first album is already garnering praise and sales.

Four young Toluca Lake siblings growing up together are also developing their musical talents together in the form of an emerging pop group.

The Burbank Leader recently profiled Jamie, Noah, Graham and Sydney Sierota, otherwise known as Echosmith, and praised the quartet for their songwriting style in a world of manufactured pop.

"Richly melodic, chronically catchy, these kids' compositions employ equal measures of musical dynamics and understated simplicity," wrote music journalist Jonny Whiteside.

Echosmith formed six years ago and released their debut album, Talking Dreams, in October. It climbed all the way to the 3rd spot on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

"We started the band about six years ago, playing covers, just random stuff — at our first show we did a Cure song, we did a Rage Against the Machine song," singer Sydney told the Burbank Leader. "We did everything, middle schools, elementary schools, benefits, county fairs all over the place. We played at a Chick-fil-A once — I mean, who would even imagine a band could play at place like that?”
