Do not take a Lane out on Lankershim for bikes September 06, 2013 at 08:24 PM
This is great idea . There are very few bikes in NOHo. For every one bike we have there are five hundreds cars to that one bike. Oh and bussiness vote no to have the bike lane going down Lankershim.

"If you build it, they will come" Its a chicken and egg thing. Got to have the bike lane to encourage people they have a safe place to ride, this in turn encourages more people to come out to eat, shop and use all the great sirvices on Lankersham. I beleive No Ho is ready for the "bike revolution". It is alredy the gateway to one of the best dedicated bike/pesdestrian lanes in LA, running along side the Bus-Way, that starts at Noho Station. Many more people would use the Bus-Way path, if they had a saferer way to get there. More and more studies show that bike lanes increse sales. http://bikeoven.com/2013/05/12/bike-lanes-led-to-49-increase-in-retail-sales/ I started cycling about 5 yeard ago and I'v seen a huge change in that time. The LA Bike Coalalition... http://la-bike.org continues to do a great job, educatiing cyclist and motorists here in LA. We've got to continuse the effort to enlighten motorists that the days of a "car dominant" city are a thing of the past. If you want to get a preview of what a more "bike frendly city" could be like, come treat yourself to one of the most mind altering experences around, on Sunday Oct 7th. "Cic LA Via" http://www.ciclavia.org is a gathering of thousands of cyclists that will take place on a 7.5 mile route thru the heart of Los Angeles. The route is completly closed to cars and the experience of seeing those streets full of bicycles, is truley insperational. Fun for the whole family. I believe this is the 6th or 7th event. Just go talk to the shop owners of downtown and ask them what this has done for thier business. Its fantastic! This is an important conversation to have and thank The Patch for kicking it off. OH Mark, Your out of touch with the NOHO area . There are one bike to every five hundred car. Next the bike Coalalition are a buch of liers that lost Lankershim in four neighborhood council . Plus the bussines in NOHo vote no to have the bike lane down Lankershim.

Too bad you can't stop people from riding their bikes! Never will you get rid of bicycles. Ha Ha!
