Gas Prices Drop 80 Cents in a Month

A 35-day streak brings fuel prices down from record highs.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased  for the 35th consecutive day, falling eight-tenths of a cent to $3.896, its lowest amount since Aug. 7.

The average price has decreased 80.9 cents over the past 35 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Monday, after rising 50.4 cents over the previous seven days and reaching a record high of $4.705 on Oct. 9, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 10.7 cents less than one week ago and 77.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 1.6 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price decreased today for the 36th consecutive day, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $3.842, its lowest amount since Aug. 2.

The Orange County average price has decreased 84.8 cents over the past 36 days, including 1 cent on Monday, after rising 51.3 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.69 on Oct. 8.

The Orange County average price is 10.2 cents less than one week ago and 79.6 cents lower than one month ago, but 1.5 cents more than one year ago.
