George Barris' Batmobile Sells for $4.2 Million

An Arizona businessman purchases the car and plans to keep it on display in his living room.

The Batmobile from the original Batman TV series was sold in an Arizona auction this past weekend for $4.2 million, according to Forbes.

The iconic auto has been on display inside Barris Kustom Industries in North Hollywood since 1968, but owner and automotive icon George Barris decided to sell it at the Barrett-Jackson on Saturday.

For more than six decades, Barris Kustom Industries has been responsible for creating or designing dozens of famous automobiles that have appeared in films and television, including the Bluesmobile from The Blues Brothers, the Munstermobile from The Munsters and Echto 1 from Ghostbusters.
