House of Plants Closes

The botanical business shutters about a year after opening.

Shortly after I took over as local editor of North Hollywood-Toluca Lake Patch in August, I drove by House of Plants and saw that the business was closed with a shuttered gate preventing entry.

We did a few stories on the store after it opened, showcasing a small house with a quaint backyard riddled with an array of plants and a few tables set up for customers to enjoy the scenery.

But in recent months the business's front sign was removed and after driving by again on Wednesday, I was once again greeted with a closed gated.

Despite the silence, I did notice a few cars parked for unknown reasons behind the gate

Several calls were made to House of Plants, but they were never returned. In addition, the shop's blog hasn't been updated in more than a year.

So it looks like local shoppers will have to elsewhere in the community for their botanical needs.
