Judge Blocks Walmart Plans in Burbank

The 818 won't be getting a second Walmart for now as a judge this week rescinded permits to build a Burbank location for the megastore due to a lack of environmental studies, CBS2 reports.

LA Superior Court Judge Allan Goodman effectively reversed the Burbank City Council's 2012 vote to allow Walmart to move into the former Great Indoors store at the Empire Center.
Goodman, acting on complaints from three citizens, said the council acted “in a manner not authorized by law” when it failed to require an environmental impact report and street improvements, according to CBS2.
Walmart told the network that it's pursuing legal options.

The chain has a location at 8333 Van Nuys Blvd. Panorama City and a market store at 14530 Nordhoff St. in Panorama City.
