Luca's Restaurant in Toluca Lake Closes

The seafood eatery closes after several months in business.

Toluca Lake's French bistro Chez Nous was open for 30 years until new ownership rebranded the eatery last year, but successor Luca's barely lasted one season.

The seafood spot opened around Father's Day and closed within the last few weeks with several for sale signs hung up outside.

Barrett Lepejian, owner of Lucy's 51 and two Tinhorn Flats locations, bought Chez Nous after it went under in 2012.

Lepejian's plan was to serve a blend of gourmet seafood dishes and sushi.

"He has three other very successful restaurants, unfortunately this one didn't work," said Vahan Saroians, Lepejian's real estate agent.

Luca's entire 11,600-square-foot lot is up for sale, though the restaurant and bakery account for about 5,800 square feet.

Saroians said the future owner could also tear down the structure and build condominiums.

Do you think another restaurant should replace Luca's or is time for another type of structure to take over?
