North Hollywood Among Biggest Job Growth Communities

Los Angeles Council District No. 2, which includes North Hollywood and Studio City, saw some of the biggest job growth in the city last year, the San Fernando Valley Business Journal reports.

The area saw a 6.5 percent increase in new jobs, totaling 56,776 positions.  Some of the growth can be attributed to more construction activity and the issuance of building permits for multifamily residences.

“This is very much a good news/bad news report,” said economist Christopher Thornberg of Beacon Economics, which discovered the numbers in a recent study. “Overall, the city economy is improving, but the growth is very uneven and has not spread to all parts of the city.”

District 2 is home to about 5,500 firms and sales tax receipts in Studio City, North Hollywood and beyond grew by 4.9 percent, the third consecutive year of growth, according to statistics from LA City Councilman Paul Krekorian's office.
