Padrino's Pizza Now Open Near LA Valley College

The new pizzeria on Burbank Boulevard makes its own dough and sauce on-site and offers a unique dish that blends a pie with a salad.

A new pizzeria has popped up around the corner from Los Angeles Valley College and is serving up pies and slices inspired by the owner's East Coast roots.

Providence, Rhode Island native Dan Farrands is at the helm of Padrino's Pizza at 13328 Burbank Blvd. in Sherman Oaks.

Padrino's makes its own dough and sauce on site and offers other pizzeria staples like wings and sandwiches, but it also touts a concoction known as the salad pizza.

"It's literally salad on a pizza crust," Farrands said. "It's onions and cheese topped with greens and Romaine tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, parsley, cilantro, avocado feta and Italian dressing."

Farrands said part of the plan of setting his business was to offer pizza by the slice to nearby LA Valley College students on a tight budget.

"Students get 10 percent off during the week," he said.

Other promotions currently available include $1 cheese slices, 10 percent off your first order for liking Padrino's on Facebook and a coupon for $2 off any 18-inch regular crust or specialty pizza.
