Pot Dispensary Replaces NoHo Scooters

A new pot shop has opened for business at 5142 Vineland Ave., the former location of NoHo Scooters.

The sign of celebrities from yesteryear remains, but gone is the quirky storefront that once featured rows of the motorized rides. Instead, pedestrians are greeted with discreet barred windows and a neon open sign, a motif commonly affiliated with medical marijuana dispensaries.

A sign on the side door of the new business reads MWC Wellness Center. The store is already being featured on websites such as LegalMarijuanaDispensary.com, but that URL may be misleading.

In May, L.A. voters approved a ballot measure that would limit the number of pot shops in the city to 135. There's a list that states which stores would be allowed to remain open that does not include MWC Wellness Center.

So the future of this new pot shop may be murky as the new legislation will go into effect by the end of the month.

Patch tried to reach the owners of the dispensary for a comment, but their e-mail address does not work and no phone number was provided.
