Soul Dog Offers Sunday Chicken and Waffles; Fabio Viviani Offers Pre-Thanksgiving Class

in NoHo is now open on Sundays and they've added chicken & waffles to their menu. Owner Don Scott says, "Gospel music will pump through our Internet radio as we present our famous crispy southern fried chicken laid soulfully on a light and fluffy house made golden waffle. Add soft butter and syrup and you have a Sunday worth waking up for. Bring your Sunday newspaper and your favorite Starbucks coffee drink in from next door, we won't mind!"

Don't miss the opening day of the  on Saturday from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., 5200 Bakman (between Lankershim and Tujunga) at the corner of Magnolia, with street closure north to Weddington, North Hollywood. Free recyclable bags will be given to the first 1000 people.

The Valley Inn in Sherman Oaks is celebrating Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur with a four course special traditional meal which will be offered in addition to their regular menu. $32.95 per person.  

Gelson’s has fresh, home cooked meals that you can heat up at home for the holidays. Choose Chicken or Beef Brisket with Julienne Vegetables and Gravy, Chicken Broth and Matzo Balls, Garlic-Herb Roasted Potatoes, Tzimmes, Chopped Beef liver with egg, and Noodle Kugel. The price is $59.95 and serves four.

Join in his Toluca Lake restaurant, , for a pre-Thanksgiving class on October 16 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m or 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Learn how to make pumpkin gnocchi, cranberry risotto  and grandma’s roast chicken. $40 per person or $70 a couple. If you're heading out to the West Valley, you should know that the Calabasas Commons is undergoing a couple changes. Le Pain Quotidien, the Belgian café-bakery chain with more than 160 locations worldwide, last week opened its 14th Los Angeles location at the Commons in Calabasas. It's open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Coming this Spring to the Commons is Century City's Toscanova, an Italian trattoria which is expanding to the West Valley location.

I've left my business card with a few construction workers but no one has gotten back to me so far. From what the workers told me, it's going to be a new restaurant. Those are all the details I have for now, but I'll keep you posted as soon as I found out more. Thanks!
