Update on La Cana Reopening Project

New owner Bobby Green talks about his plans for the restaurant, which closed in the 1980s.

Last month, Patch reported that long-shuttered La Cana Restaurant would soon be getting a face lift courtesy of Bobby Green and his 1933 Group.

The Vineland Avenue spot has been closed since the 1980s and Patch regularly gets emails from readers asking if anything would ever become of the old relic.

On Thursday, I got an email from Green about his plans for La Cana and this is what he had to say:

I'm very excited to get started on the La Cana restoration project, I have been working on it for the last 4-5 months but it's still in the Architect/Engineer phase and until we have definitive approved plans, I don't want to start any demo or construction due to the historic nature of the building.  So unfortunately I don't have an official start date for ya, but hopefully it will be in the next two months.
