Blaze at Old North Hollywood Medical Center

Debris catches fire during demolition work at former hospital, but is quickly extinguished, fire official reports.

The Los Angeles Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire Tuesday afternoon at the former North Hollywood Medical Center on Riverside Drive, which is undergoing demolition work. There were no injuries, according to Batallion Chief Peter Benesch.

The blaze was thought to have been started when hot metal discarded by welders working at the site went down an elevator shaft, setting fire to some debris at the bottom of the shaft. The fire spread to the basement and part of the first floor before being extinguished.

The television series Scrubs was filmed at the hospital.

I was born at that hospital! Any ideas what they're planning to build after the demolition?

The same development company which is building high end apartments at the Stevens Nursury site is going to build apartments. The piece of land is much larger than the Stevens piece, so expect more units. This development will bring down the price of high end units in the area. The company is ITM of Sherman Oaks. They are locally owned. Millions of costruction dollars will give a boost to our local economy.

That was where the show "Scrubs" was filmed.

They demolished the building of the greatest show I ever see in my life. I live in Poland and now I will never see the building of my favorite show. I miss Scrubs soo much.
