Lane Closures Planned for 5 Freeway in Valley This Week

All the plans are tentative, and can be changed by bad weather or other unplanned occurences.

Overnight freeway closures are again scheduled in the San Gabriel Valley and Long Beach, but San Fernando Valley construction projects will not necessitate full overnight closures this week, Caltrans officials said.

The large rebuilding projects along the Golden State (5) Freeway, from Glendale to Santa Clarita, will not require any full closures this week, Caltrans officials said. But multiple lanes on the 5 will be closed at night, and many freeway entrances and exits are closed on a 24/7 basis.

Overnight closures will affect ramps onto the northbound 5 from both the Ventura (134) and Foothill (210) freeways next week, however.

No full closures were expected on the 405 at Sepulveda Pass next week, Metro officials said.

In Long Beach, both the southbound San Diego (405) and eastbound (22) freeways will be closed at Studebaker Road at 11 p.m. Monday through Friday nights, reopening at 5 a.m. the next days.

In Westminster, the northbound 405 and westbound 22 freeways will be closed at their Valley View Street exits starting at midnight Monday through Friday nights, Caltrans officials said.

A major widening project at Seal Beach Boulevard is the problem there. Numerous other freeway-to-freeway ramps linking the 405, 22 and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway will also be closed, both before and after the main 405 closures.

In the La Puente and West Covina area, both directions of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway will be closed late at night tonight through Thursday nights. Partial lane closures will begin between the 605 and Puente Avenue will start around 9 p.m. those nights.

The full freeway closures will be in place by about 1 a.m. westbound and 2 a.m. eastbound.

All the plans are tentative, and can be changed by bad weather or other unplanned occurrences.
