Power was restored to more than 1,280 Department of Water and Power customers in the Valley Village and West Toluca Lake area Saturday night after nearly three hours, a utility official said.
The outage was reported at 5:15 p.m. and power was restored at about 8 p.m., MaryAnne Pierson of DWP said.
"It was caused by tree limbs or palm fronds getting onto overhead feeders," Pierson said. "Like a fuse in your house, the system locked up."
Crews were on the scene working on repairs just before 7 p.m., Pierson said.
The power loss affected the area between Maida Street, Hortense Street, Vineland Avenue and Radford Avenue, Pierson said.
