California Art Club's 103rd Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition

The California Art Club will present its 103rd Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition at the Autry National Center of the American West from March 30 to April 20, 2014.

This annual display of contemporary-traditional fine art paintings and sculpture is the only one of its kind in the country, juried by a panel of museum scholars and nationally-renowned artists to identify the highest quality of work that builds upon the rich legacy of the early California Impressionist painters that founded the organization in 1909.

The upcoming Gold Medal Exhibition will feature more than 200 never-before-seen works of art, created using time-honored fine art techniques.  The display is unthemed to encourage artists to take risks and raise the bar with their art, and the selected works document the ever-evolving world around us, addressing issues such as environmental conservation and urbanization.

During the exhibition, the California Art Club will present events and educational programs that enable art enthusiasts to learn more about traditional art forms.  These activities include the Artists’ Gala Reception on Saturday, March 29, a portrait painting demonstration on the exhibition’s opening day, and a Roaring 20s themed “Paint-Out/Sculpt-Out,” a fun-filled day for families to watch artists at work. Program information will be posted as the opening of the exhibition nears at www.californiaartclub.org.
