Writing and Publishing — Creating A Successful Career as an Indie Author

Sun, Jan 13th, 2-4pm $20 cash fee

2012 has been the Year of the Indie in the publishing world. Self-publishing has become the most lucrative way to monetize the Internet. In 2012, thanks to the debut of Amazon’s Select program, top indie authors started pulling in six to seven figures a month, while successful mid-list indies were making five to six figures a month.

Everyone has a book or two in them. And now, it’s easier than ever to go from being an aspiring author to a published, successful author.

This intro class is going to cover:

  • How to overcome writing obstacles

  • How to publish on a budget

  • Marketing secrets that won’t break the bank

  • Which publishing option is best for you and what you should be wary of

  • Using social media to create your fan base

  • Creating audiobooks

  • E-publishing as part of your transmedia portfolio

  • Taking the first step in rewriting your life

You will also receive a list of every link you need to have to create a successful indie career. One stop shopping at its best.  The class will be taught at The Green Man by Christiana Miller, the bestselling author of Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead, A Tale of Three Witches and The Thief Who Stole Midnight. “Tana” has lectured at Columbia College, Northwestern University’s Entertainment Alliance and at the Writers Guild of America on how to succeed as an indie author and publisher in today’s marketplace. She’s been featured on Kirkus Reviews as a Self-Publishing Bestseller and she’s tutored a number of well-known screenwriters in how to make the transition to being a successful indie author.
