Neighborhood Appreciation Day

This is a press release from the Church of Christ:

Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) or Church of Christ, one of the fastest growing international Christian organizations, will thank residents in northwest Los Angeles County on Saturday, April 14 for their support and continuous hospitality throughout its growth in the region at an inaugural Neighborhood Appreciation Day

All community members and families are welcome to take part in the free day of service from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 14308 Nordhoff St. – a joint effort of volunteers from Panorama City, Santa Clarita and Woodland Hills.

Hundreds of community members are expected to receive FREE services organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo, including basic health and wellness service booths; family portraits; children’s games and crafts; martial arts and fitness demonstrations; food and refreshments; live musical entertainment; and guided tours to welcome residents to the chapel in North Hollywood. Attendees will be addressed with special remarks from regional INC leaders, and distinguished community representatives.

"More nonprofits are unfortunately being forced to close their doors or cut back on services,” said Bob Pellien, Iglesia ni Cristo District Minister of Southern California. “But even after nearly 100 years, the INC is still growing internationally; it's our way of saying thank you to our neighbors here and opening our doors to those who've welcomed us on their streets every week for the last 26 years."’

The growth of the community establishment in northwest Los Angeles over the last few decades has led to additional congregations of the Church in Santa Clarita and Woodland Hills for residents in North County and the greater San Fernando Valley region. There are now more than 40 congregations and extensions in the Southern California region of the U.S. alone.

The day of service is an additional event of the INCGiving Project, which inspires ongoing activities that support the efforts of community partners by offering time and resources for the wellbeing of those in need. Member volunteers are taking a multi-service approach to address the issues facing residents of the area while setting the tone for future programs that support family and community development – a global project to share faith through acts of kindness.

“We don't want to just say thank you to our neighbors, we want to show them our appreciation and let them know we’re also here to help,” said Pellien. “Our members are taking a multi-service approach to help address the issues facing residents of the area while setting the tone for future initiatives that support family and neighborhood development.”
