Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council Member Jerome Williams Dies at 48

Jerome Williams, a member of the Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council who's served multiple terms including one as president, has passed away. He was 48.

Originally from Chicago and actor/filmmaker by profession, Williams most recently served on the board's planning and land use and public safety committees. 

According to a bio he had submitted for a re-election bid to the council last year, he was a single father of two: a son who attends Cornell University and a college bound daughter.

The Greater Toluca Neighborhood Council issued this statement after hearing about Wiliams' passing: "Jerome was a man of great character, an optimist, engaging, inquisitive, and always sought to improve the circumstances of others. He will be sorely missed and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time."

Williams passed away on July 22. A cause of death was not immediately available, but according to a 2011 story by NBC4, he was a bone marrow transplant recipient following a 2003 diagnosis for chronic myelogenous leukemia.

A memorial service is being held at Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries Hollywood Hills July 31, at 3 p.m. The doors will open for viewing at 2:30 p.m.

An informal reception will be held that day from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Toluca Lake United Methodist Church at 4301 Cahuenga Blvd., Toluca Lake.
