UPDATED: 1 Person Killed in 5-Way Intersection Crash

One driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-car crash that occurred in the middle of a five-way intersection near the NoHo Arts District, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Lankershim Boulevard collision was reported at 2:15 p.m., said Sgt. Robert White.

He said the driver of a 2004 Toyota Highlander in a northbound left turn lane on Lankershim went straight instead and struck a 2008 Acura TSX heading westbound on Camarillo Street.

The Highlander lost control and crashed into a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was stopped at a red light facing southbound on Lankershim Boulevard, police said.

The driver of the Highlander was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name was withheld pending notification of kin, police said.

Three other people were transported to a hospital with unknown injuries, he said.

City News Service was used in compiling this report.

I agree with John ^^^^ LAPD Traffic need to monitor that intersection and actually do something about the people constantly running the red light. I live in that area and am often walking through that intersection it is ridiculous the amount of times that people are blowing through that intersection, even crossing the street can be sketchy.

This has nothing to do with potential bike lanes. Take your anger over the 21st century somewhere else. A person died. Have some compassion. Better yet, just go away.

Also, please leave it up to VTD to investigate. We don't need your unverified observations. Patch editors MUST keep an eye on these posts. Based on your inability to construct a basic sentence in the English language, your unfounded conclusions are simply blather.

The fact that many have less than fantastic spelling is another tragedy! This story is about the lunatics that are on the roads. And we have the Cheif of police and others thinking that not having a license is no real big deal! That intersection is a mess and has always been such! Today, unlicensed drivers, no real respect for traffic laws and generally for anything else! Welcome to 2013 in America, well at least North Hollywood!

Good point John, I think we need to look at the drivers rather than the roads which have existed in the area for 50 plus years...Reckless or drunk driving should be met with revocation of license...end of story
