A man in his 30s who was allegedly armed with a weapon, on drugs and woke up a North Hollywood with his screaming was arrested early Monday morning, police said.

At about 4:30 a.m., LAPD's North Hollywood Station was getting numerous calls about a disturbance in the 11400 block of Killion Street, said Senior Lead Officer John Catalano.

As officers arrived at the scene, neighbors directed them to an upstairs unit of an apartment building, Catalano said.

Screams and the sound of glass breaking could be heard as they approached the front door, he said.

"Loud banging was also heard and we immediately kicked in the front door," Catalano said. "After clearing the apartment for suspects, we made our way to the rear bathroom."

After that door was knocked down, officers came across the suspect, who was allegedly armed, but was taken into custody without incident, he said.

Catalano said the man was under the influence of narcotics, taken to the hospital to be cleared medically and later arrested for a felony "no bail" warrant.

"After doing this for about 18 years, this could have gone in a much different direction," Catalano said. "The officers at scene did an outstanding job and as a result, the situation was handled without anyone being hurt."
