Second Fake Grenade This Week Sets Off Bomb Scare in North Hollywood

The find of fake grenade drew a bomb squad to a North Hollywood neighborhood Thursday, the second such occurrence reported this week, according to the Daily News.

An investigation began in the 6800 block of Radford Avenue around 1 p.m. that sparked an evacuation and road closures for several hours, police said.

“They cleared it about 4:30 p.m.,”  Officer Forsberg of Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division told the Daily News. “It wasn’t a grenade, but it looked like it. It was a dud.”

This is the second time a suspicious item has been checked out in North Hollywood this week.

On Wednesday, a bomb squad unit was dispatched to a residence in to check out a suspicious device, but it turned out to be old prop grenades.

Editor's Note: City News Service initially reported that the investigation was taking place in the 6000 block of Radford Avenue, it's actually in the 6800 block of Radford Avenue, said Officer Drake Madison.
