Burbank Man Suspected of Hate Vandalism

An 18-year-old local allegedly spray-paints hate images around the community.

An 18-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of spray-painting hate messages around Burbank, police said today.

Drew Benda was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Monday at Wilbur Avenue and Bel Aire Drive after he was spotted with evidence that connected him to Swastikas and hateful comments toward African Americans spray-painted on fences, gates, cars, sidewalks and garage doors, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

The vandalism was committed across three to four blocks within the community just hours before Benda was taken into custody, Losacco said.
