Chase Suspect Is NoHo Man Booked for Alleged Murder

Rampart police have now confirmed that Ian Schlesinger, 24, is being held on a warrant in the July 30th slaying of Marshall High graduate Ivan Pedroza.

The man who shot at police Tuesday after a Echo Park and Downtown Los Angeles has been identified as a North Hollywood man and the lead suspect in the slaying of former Marshall High basketball star Ivan Pedroza.

Pedroza was killed July 30 on an Echo Park Hillside.

The suspect, who was arrested after he shot at police after a high speed chase Tuesday is 24-year-old Ian Schlesinger.

According Lieutenant Weslely Buhrmeister, he was booked on a warrant for Pedroza's murder.

He is also being charged with attempted murder after shooting at a police officer after last night.

Police say the Schlesinger was shot in the legs after he produced a rifle at the end of a vehicle chase lasting more than an hour. No officers were injured.

As of Tuesday, he is in the hospital in critical but stable condition, City News Service reports.

His bail has been set at $2 million, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Tuesday's chase through Echo Park, Elysian Park and downtown began when officers recognized a car Schlesinger driving a car that he allegedly stole earlier in the day in North Hollywood.
