Drivers who are found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol can expect license suspension, jail time, major hikes in insurance premiums, DUI classes, court probation and fines, police say.

The Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Division will staff a DUI and driver's license checkpoint Saturday on West Cahuenga Boulevard and Broadlawn Drive in the Cahuenga Pass.

The checkpoint will operate from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Sunday and aims to reduce the number of people injured or killed by impaired drivers as well as ensure drivers have valid driver's licenses, Sgt. John Ficken of the LAPD Valley Traffic Division said in a statement.

Drivers who are found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol can expect license suspension, jail time, major hikes in insurance premiums, DUI classes, court probation and fines, Ficken said.
