Here are some of the top stories in the San Fernando Valley today.

Panorama City

Authorities today sought a suspect wanted for shooting two men in Panorama City.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 8100 block of Sepulveda Place, two blocks south of Roscoe Boulevard, about 10:48 p.m. on Tuesday.

A 29-year-old man had been standing on the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown suspect and shot. He was taken to a hospital where he died today.

It is believed the same suspect then approached a 31-year-old victim who had been standing on the same sidewalk near the first victim. This man was shot in the upper body with an unknown type handgun. He was able to drive himself to another hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound and minor injuries and then released.

"We believe there was more than one shooter exchanging rounds,'' said Sgt. K. Campbell of the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Station. No guns were recovered, he said.

Detectives said they have no motive for the shootings and limited information about the suspect.

Anyone with information about the shootings should call detectives at (818) 838-9810.

A Burbank parolee was in custody today and facing possible drug and weapons charges, authorities said.

Alexander James, 27, was arrested Wednesday at his residence in the 2300 block of Chandler Boulevard, said Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

James was booked on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of ammunition. James was held without bail, due to a parole violation.

Officers sent to James' home to conduct a parole-compliance inspection found "suspected heroin, suspected methamphetamine, a pill bottle containing a variety of prescription pills, suspected marijuana, and numerous drug paraphernalia items," Ryburn said in a statement.

Police also found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun in the living quarters, Ryburn said.
