Fatal North Hollywood Apartment Fire Victim ID'd
The coroner's office releases the name of the 20-year-old man who died after receiving burns over 70 percent of his body.
A 20-year-old man who died of burns suffered in an apartment fire in North Hollywood was identified Sunday night by the coroner's office.
The fire was reported at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday in a first-floor unit in the rear of an apartment building at 6737 Denny Ave., near Vanowen Street and Bob Hope Airport, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Three veteran paramedics resuscitated Bruce Robert Droge, who was lifeless when he was pulled from the two-story building, Humphrey and coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said.

Droge was hospitalized with second- and third-degree burns over more than 70 percent of his body, Humphrey said.
Droge was pronounced dead at 3:33 p.m. Friday at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, said an investigator with the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

A total of 37 firefighters responded to the fire and had the flames knocked down in 18 minutes, confining the blaze to the single apartment, Humphrey said.
