Fiery Crash Closes Ventura Blvd. Near Universal

A female driver is arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Ventura Boulevard was closed to traffic near Universal City today after a pickup truck driven by a suspected intoxicated driver crashed into a utility pole and knocked down high voltage power lines.

The crash happened at 10602 W. Ventura Boulevard near Lankershim Boulevard at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday, said Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blue pickup truck caught fire, according to a news photographer at the scene who said a flash was visible from miles away when the crash happened.

A female driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station said.

One person suffered minor injuries but declined to be taken to a hospital after being treated at the scene, according to Spence, who said a second vehicle was involved in the crash.

Department of Water and Power crews were called to the scene, Spence said.

Hi! Yes, something is definitely happening there. I've stopped by a few times in hopes of bumpingRead More into the new owner but I haven't been so lucky. I've left my business card with a few construction workers but no one has gotten back to me so far. From what the workers told me, it's going to be a new restaurant. Those are all the details I have for now, but I'll keep you posted as soon as I found out more. Thanks!
ok thank you
