Firefighter Injured Battling Blaze at Universal Studios' Old 'Terminator 2' Attraction
A park official says the ride closed in December, so there were no park visitors in the area.
A fire that may have been sparked by a welder's torch Wednesday damaged a three-story building at Universal Studios, which until last month housed the "Terminator 2" attraction, and left one firefighter with minor injuries.
Firefighters were sent around 1:15 p.m. to the theme park at 3900 Lankershim Blvd. The blaze, which was reported on the building's upper floors, was knocked down at 2:34 p.m., according to Inspector Quovondo Johnson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
According to reports from the scene, all workers who were in the building were accounted for.

A park official said "Terminator 2" closed in December, so there were no park visitors in the area. The space was being renovated for a new attraction, she said.
Johnson said the fire was contained to the one building and that the damage was primarily to the "contents," but no damage estimate was immediately released.

He said that a cause has not been officially determined, but preliminary reports indicated a welder's torch may have been responsible.
Audrey Eig, spokeswoman for Universal Studios, said the building is being renovated for a new attraction, but she wouldn't disclose what the attraction will be or when it will open.
She said park hours would not be affected by the blaze.
