High-Speed Chase Starts in Hollywood, Ends in Moorpark

The pursuit, which reached up to speeds of 100 mph, ended with the driver being taken into custody.

An approximately 25-minute high-speed chase of a stolen vehicle that began in Hollywood ended in Moorpark tonight with the driver being taken into custody.

KCAL9 reported that the silver Toyota reached speeds of 100 mph as it was chased by patrol cars from Sunset Boulevard to a succession of freeways across the San Fernando Valley and then into Ventura County.

The chase headed north on the Hollywood (101), Golden State (5) and Ronald Reagan (118) freeways.

With as many as 18 California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles Police Department vehicles tailing it, the vehicle eventually turned off state Highway 23 onto New Los Angeles Road, where it briefly drove the wrong way with two punctured tires before stopping.

Armed CHP officers dragged the driver from the vehicle without incident at 11:10 p.m. The chase began around 10:45 p.m.
