Injury Wreck Shuts Down Lanes on 170 Freeway

Seven people were injured, three critically, in a five-vehicle collision on the Hollywood (170) Freeway tonight in North Hollywood, authorities said.

Some of the victims were cut from the wreckage of the crash, which happened just after 8 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway just south of Oxnard Street, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three critically injured victims and one that suffered non-life- threatening injuries were taken to a hospital, while three other people were treated and released at the scene, Scott said.

The wreck closed down all southbound lanes of the freeway in the area of the crash until just before 10 p.m., according to the CHP.
